How It Works

Identify
Find one trustworthy adult who can become the Student Shepherd for the students God has entrusted to your church.
Equip
Give that leader a clear pathway, weekly lesson, parent connection, and simple next steps.
Gather
Create a consistent discipleship table where students are known, Scripture is opened, questions are welcomed, and prayer becomes normal.
Connect
Keep students connected to parents, the senior pastor, the local church, service, ministry opportunities, and other students across the state.
The Student Shepherd
Don't wait for a youth pastor.
A Student Shepherd is not expected to build a professional youth ministry.
They are a trusted adult who accepts responsibility for intentionally helping a few students follow Jesus.
Spiritually healthy and actively following Jesus.
Safe, trustworthy, and approved by church leadership.
Willing to listen before trying to impress.
Teachable enough to use a plan and ask for help when needed.
Willing to consistently invest for at least the first 90 days.

You don't need everything figured out first.
How many students do we need?
Start with the students you have. THE FEW is specifically designed for small groups where traditional youth ministry may not be practical.
Do we need a youth pastor?
No. You need a church-approved, spiritually healthy adult willing to consistently shepherd students.
Do we need to meet on Wednesday night?
No. Choose a consistent rhythm that works for your church and families. Consistency matters more than the specific night.
What if our leader has never taught before?
The lessons are designed to guide ordinary leaders. Preparation matters, but the Student Shepherd does not need to become a professional communicator.
Is this supposed to replace our youth ministry?
No. THE FEW is primarily a pathway for churches that need a simple discipleship structure. If your ministry grows, the system can grow with you.
