Small Church Student Discipleship

You don't need a big youth ministry. You need a plan for the few you have.

Two students. Five students. Ten students. If God has entrusted them to your church, they deserve intentional discipleship.

THE FEW gives small churches a simple pathway, ready-to-use lessons, leader support, and a plan for discipling teenagers without needing a full-time youth pastor.

Built for Small Churches No Youth Pastor Required Ready-to-Use Lessons

Discipleship Can Be Simple

A table can become a ministry.

2-12 Students are enough to begin.

Who Is THE FEW For?

Churches that have students- but not much of a plan.

Maybe your church has three teenagers. Maybe eight. Maybe they sit together on Sunday but nothing is intentionally being built around them.

THE FEW starts there.

SMALL

We only have a few students.

Good. You do not need to wait for twenty more before intentional discipleship begins.

NO STAFF

We don't have a youth pastor.

THE FEW is designed so a faithful, healthy adult can begin discipling students without becoming a full-time youth pastor.

NO PLAN

We don't know what to teach.

The pathway is already built. Start with the First 90 Days and lead one gathering at a time.

LIMITED RESOURCES

We can't build a big program.

Don't. Build consistent relationships, open Scripture, pray together, and disciple the students you already have.

Change The Conversation

"We only have six teenagers." Good. Let's disciple those six.

01

You don't need 50 students.

Ministry is not validated by crowd size. A few students intentionally discipled can become deeply rooted followers of Jesus.

02

You don't need a youth room.

A table, a living room, a classroom, or a corner of the church can become sacred space for discipleship.

03

You don't need a youth pastor.

You need one faithful adult willing to know students, open Scripture, pray, and keep showing up.

How It Works

From "we don't have a youth ministry" to "our students are being discipled."

THE FEW removes the pressure to create an entire youth program and gives the local church a simple place to begin.

01

Identify

Find one trustworthy adult who can become the Student Shepherd for the students God has entrusted to your church.

02

Equip

Give that leader a clear pathway, weekly lesson, parent connection, and simple next steps.

03

Gather

Create a consistent discipleship table where students are known, Scripture is opened, questions are welcomed, and prayer becomes normal.

04

Connect

Keep students connected to parents, the senior pastor, the local church, service, ministry opportunities, and other students across the state.

The Student Shepherd

Don't wait for a youth pastor.

A Student Shepherd is not expected to build a professional youth ministry.

They are a trusted adult who accepts responsibility for intentionally helping a few students follow Jesus.

01

Spiritually healthy and actively following Jesus.

02

Safe, trustworthy, and approved by church leadership.

03

Willing to listen before trying to impress.

04

Teachable enough to use a plan and ask for help when needed.

05

Willing to consistently invest for at least the first 90 days.

A Weekly Gathering

Sixty minutes can be enough.

15 MIN

Table

Food. Life. School. Questions. Relationships. Listen before teaching.

15 MIN

Word

Open Scripture and teach one clear biblical truth.

20 MIN

Talk

Ask questions. Let students wrestle. Don't rush every silence.

10 MIN

Practice + Pray

Do something with what you learned and pray together before leaving.

Change The Measure

Five students is not a failed youth ministry. Five discipled students can change everything.

Five students who know Scripture.
Five students who pray.
Five students learning to depend on the Holy Spirit.
Five students serving their church.
Five students learning to share their faith.
Five students discovering gifts and calling.
Five students surrounded by adults who know their names.

Where We're Going

We're not trying to keep students busy until graduation.

THE FEW helps churches move students toward increasing ownership of their faith, their church, and God's mission.

01

BELONG

Someone knows my name and I know I have a place here.

02

KNOW

I am learning God's Word and know what I believe.

03

GROW

I am developing prayer, Scripture, holiness, and spiritual rhythms.

04

SERVE

I use what God has given me to strengthen others.

05

LEAD

I can carry meaningful spiritual responsibility.

06

GO

I understand that my faith includes witness, mission, and calling.

Common Questions

You don't need everything figured out first.

How many students do we need?

Start with the students you have. THE FEW is specifically designed for small groups where traditional youth ministry may not be practical.

Do we need a youth pastor?

No. You need a church-approved, spiritually healthy adult willing to consistently shepherd students.

Do we need to meet on Wednesday night?

No. Choose a consistent rhythm that works for your church and families. Consistency matters more than the specific night.

What if our leader has never taught before?

The lessons are designed to guide ordinary leaders. Preparation matters, but the Student Shepherd does not need to become a professional communicator.

Is this supposed to replace our youth ministry?

No. THE FEW is primarily a pathway for churches that need a simple discipleship structure. If your ministry grows, the system can grow with you.

What is the first step?

Identify your Student Shepherd, name the students God has entrusted to you, choose a consistent gathering rhythm, and begin the First 90 Days.

Start Where You Are

Don't wait until you have more students. Disciple the ones already entrusted to you.

You do not have to build everything. You only have to take the next faithful step. THE FEW will help you know what that step is.
